The Central Asia Innovation Hub will create and promote knowledge and awareness of the positive role of civil society in order to build values and principles of democracy and institutions; build understanding and credibility with citizens, governments, businesses and media by helping shape a new concept of civil society as being more than just NGOs; and strengthen solidarity and empower civil society to navigate restrictive environments. The Hub’s thematic focuses include knowledge management innovation and an innovation lab, civil society experts and interactions with the state.
The Civil Society Index tools developed to measure the level of innovations of civil society organizations. This comprise two different tools; Self- assessment and External Assessment along with their research manuals. These tools will allow CSOs to assess themselves, consequently allowing them to become more innovative in a systematic way. Moreover, the External- Assessment tool will allow researchers to assess CSOs innovativeness across the whole sets of CSOs in the Central Asia.
